Keyword Research is essential – Beginners’ Guide to Internet Marketing
The primary reason why so many people don’t succeed at internet marketing is that from the outset they do not take the time to carry out the essential keywords research.
Instead in their haste to build up their websites, they randomly pick up any keywords, or worse yet, sometimes no keywords whatsoever and hope that “miraculously” everything will “come up trumps”.
In this article I will bring to light the importance of keywords research when creating your first website.
What are keywords?
Keywords are words or phrases that internet users type into a search engine to explore a particular topic. For example, “weight loss” will return in Google a list of websites containing information about diets. A different view of the results will be generated each time, based on the keyword phrases being used.
Unlocking the door
The best way to understand keyword phrases is that every single phrase is essentially “a key” that opens the door to the requested information.
Different keywords phrases have different values depending on the amount of traffic they generate
The number of individuals using a specific keyword to obtain information on a particular subject varies widely. This indicates that the value of every single keyword phrase vary in accordance with the amount of people who are using it to reach a definite area of interest.
For example, on average 135,000 people a month use the keyword phrase “weight loss tips” to explore the weight loss market. In contrast only 8,100 use the phrase “weight loss solution”.
As “weight loss tips” generates more traffic than “weight loss solution”, it is therefore deemed a more valuable keyword phrase.
Why are keywords so important?
To understand why keywords are so important – you have to understand how the web works.
Better Google Ranking
Google’s spiders and robots trawl the web all the time ‘reading’ every website. Google gives a higher ranking to websites that are full of strong keywords.
The better use of popular keywords you have – the higher in Google’s listing you will appear – resulting in more exposure of your site.
Once you have a list of strong keywords, make sure that you use them on your web pages.
Sprinkling your web pages with ‘search engine rich’ keywords will make you a favorite amongst the search engines. And they reward your work with higher listings.
To put it simply put: getting your keywords right can generate a HUGE amount of FREE traffic to your site.
