The First Light

A ten-second sunrise for the end of a long climb.

Dawn over the high cliff — for everyone still walking toward their morning.

About this piece

There is a particular minute at dawn when the light stops asking permission. It comes over the ridge all at once — gold on the mist, the sea of clouds catching fire below, the cliff edge drawn in a single clean line. This piece lives inside that minute: a lone tree holding its ground, a path still unwinding toward wherever comes next.

The image is a journey metaphor, but not the easy kind. Nobody starts at the viewpoint. The path in the foreground matters as much as the sunrise — it is the part you walk in the dark, before there is any proof the climb was worth it. The tree is simply what it looks like to stay.

Dawn light works here for a practical reason, not just a poetic one: low, warm, directional light gives flat footage its depth. It rakes across the clouds so every layer separates, and it turns an ordinary cliff into a threshold — the exact feeling a fresh start is supposed to carry.
